Shane Jones
Wine and Sake Educator
Having tired of working in an office, I took the plunge in 2011 by turning my passion into my profession by joining the wine retail sector. I immediately signed up for the WSET L3 Award in Wines and upon completion won the coveted Vintners’ Bursary which afforded me the opportunity to explore the Spätburgunder wines of the Ahr Valley in Germany in great depth.
I hold the WSET Diploma in Wines and Spirits (2014) and am an enthusiastic sparkling wine specialist. It’s no surprise then that I scooped the Moët & Chandon Scholarship at my Diploma graduation!
As a WSET Certified Educator, I can be found teaching Levels 1 to 3 in Wines at various institutions in London including West London Wine School, South London Wine School, East London Wine School and the WSET School in London Bridge. I am also a regular Educator with Berlin Wine School in Germany and Auberge du Vin Wine School in Provence, France.
In addition to wine, I’m also a Certified Sake Sommelier and a Sake Educator with the Sake Sommelier Association. And because I always eager to learn as much as possible I hold the WSET L3 Sake qualification with Distinction and am also a graduate of the Japan Sake and Shochu Academy.
When I’m not drinking wine or saké I’m definitely waxing lyrical about them to anyone who’d listen! Cheers (Kampai!)
