It's a great fair. It is huge too! You can taste wines from nearly all wine producing countries. Wear comfortable shoes as you will be covering substantial distances between all different exhibition halls and within them. Fair schedule First 2 days can be very busy. Last day of the fair is more quiet. A lot of producers from outside Germany are catching an afternoon flight so stands will remain increasingly empty after lunch. Arriving in time for opening on each day will give you a good head start as many people arrive often arrive into the 2nd hour of the fair. If you wish to see particular producer or attend a masterclass, make sure to make an appointment in advance. Cloakrooms are available at the entrance, it may take some time to leave/collect your items. Accommodation Booking accommodation is always challenging as with so many visitors prices are very high. Consider staying at one of the satellite towns with direct train connection as hotels there are less expensive. Transport Morning commute between Dusseldorf HBF and the fair is very busy, sometimes, those who stay closer to the fair need to wait for a few trams before they can get on one. Easiest to secure a spot on tram is at the HBF. Food Restaurants, booking a table in advance can be useful as everyone is famished after the whole day at the fair and some restaurants are booked out to accommodate the exhibitors. At the fair there are food trucks with fast food mostly. The queues may be long so if you wish to maximize on your time, it may be an option to pick up lunch in the morning at a deli shop Enjoy!
